Service. It is a concept my grandparents’ generation knew well and one that is often lost in the modern world of today. All four of my grandparents served in WWII. I am lucky enough to still have one of them here with me. Grandma Betty was a WAC. The Women’s Army Corp was a group of women who stepped up and enlisted in a time when they were expected to stay home and await the safe return of their man. She remembers it often, sharing an unbreakable bond with so many brave & dedicated women. At 93, my grandmother still will not pass by an American flag without stopping to salute, and she does so every day, honoring her country and those with whom she served so proudly. I am grateful to have her in my life… to grow up with such a clear example of what it means to serve. Thank you to all who do.
